Important Program Update
The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) will launch the Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP) on April 1, 2025. The following measures have been adopted to ensure a smooth wind down of the Abuse-Free Sport Program, including the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC), and launch of the new CSSP.
From February 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025, the OSIC’s complaint/report intake form will remain available to the public. However, cases submitted during that period will not be administered or investigated through the Abuse-Free Sport Program. All complaints/reports received during this timeframe will be assessed so that provisional measures may be implemented in the interim, if deemed necessary. Complaints/reports that are best addressed by another service (for example, cases which would more appropriately fall within the jurisdiction of an independent third party) will be referred to the applicable mechanism.
When the CSSP launches on April 1, 2025, complaints/reports that were received by the OSIC on or after February 1, 2025, and which have not been referred elsewhere, will be shared with the CCES, which will assess whether they qualify under the CSSP.
The OSIC will not accept new complaints/reports as of April 1, 2025, but will continue to administer cases that were received on or before January 31, 2025, through the Abuse-Free Sport Program.
Existing support services for sport participants, including victims and survivors of maltreatment, such as the Abuse-Free Sport Helpline, Mental Health Support Program, and Legal Aid Program will remain available until March 31, 2025.
The CCES will begin providing its support services as of April 1, 2025.
